Oh Just Give it a Twirl Tuesday

Hello and happy Tuesday to you!  Poor Tuesday. It's the forgotten day of the week, you ever notice that? We all dread and discuss the horror that is Monday, Wednesday gets the honor to be mid-week, a 🐪 and its own hump hashtag, Thursday is Friday eve (and #tbt), Friday (#fbf)  and the weekend are in a category all their own but Tuesday? #ShoesdayTuesday?  Its just sad  (There is no real point to this rambling, by the way. It just struck me as funny. Lets go on, shall we?) :)

I love a dress than can give good twirl. Not a wussy little fluff when you spin but a real, solid, skirt-outstretched-and-spinning-twirl.  And pockets. Pockets you say? Yes. Yes, pockets are most certainly important too and this Betsey Johnson dress has both. First, its heavy. It feels wooly and substantial. If, by chance, it ever dips below 90 degrees here in CA (and it sure doesn't feel like that is happening anytime soon), this will come in handy. I love it. You feel like a lady in it, and I love anything ladylike and Jackie-O esque.  I paired it with some Banana Republic heels that I have had for a few seasons ( I bought them in camel and black too-- and when I wear either pair I get compliments every time) and it is so cute.  I walked outside after I put this outfit on and I got stopped by a few people, commenting on this dress. Its so nice and its in my favorite colors.  I don't wear too many accessories because I like things really simple but this look could be jazzed up big time.  It is at Nordstrom right now (its not on line though, but here is one that has a similar fit) If you aren't already, follow me on Instagram and Snapchat (golddustandsugarlustl) . Hi beauties!  I have to tell you that I adore this top. It's sublime. It's heavy (meaning, it feels substantial) and it hangs far enough below your bum that those brave souls in the crowd could pair it with some strappy sandals and really stop traffic! For me (read: kind of prudey),  I really like this look here for evening type events.  I have it with leather leggings (and heels) but you could expand this look and add some long necklaces, maybe more bracelets, and high heeled sandals.  I like feeling sophisticated when I am in casual evening attire (rather than too exposed or uncomfortable, you know?) and this is great.  I have never really been an H&M shopper but recently, I went to the South Coast store and they have a higher-end line and the pieces are on trend and soo reasonable.   I think this was $50. Seriously a great deal.  I am all about investing (piles of 😉) money in handbags and shoes, maybe a great watch, a trench, etc but trends?  I just can't justify it (I have a child I would like to send to law school (if she wants to go!) someday-- I need to draw the line somewhere!!)   I am thinking of trying this shirt out with a white button up underneath and a pencil skirt and maybe again with a white t shirt and jean cut offs. Moody (Navy) Blues

 

Well hello there! Let me tell you about the crazy weather that was going on when I was taking these pictures-- it got cloudy and rainy really quickly and COLD (Southern California cold. So like, 69 or 70. Freezing, in other words) The good news is that even though it was windy (read: hair flying everywhere) and my teeth were chat chat chattering, the sky turned an amazing pink. We've been over this before but I am practically dumbfounded over sunsets. Actually, the sky in general. My phone is full of pictures of great big clouds and beautiful skies full of pinks and red.  I look up at the sky all of the time and it rarely disappoints and really, how can you have a bad day with all of that beauty surrounding you?  Answer: You can't!  Take my word for it. Look up.

I would have to think about whether I would wear this outfit to work because it might be a little short for a law office (for me anyway). I am really particular about the length and silhouette of pieces because dressing for the office as a woman is (for better or worse) establishing credibility and nothing undermines that faster than a too short hemline or too much cleavage.  Maybe someday, we can all be judged by what is on our inside but until we stumble into that Utopia, I'm not taking any chances!!   I think this little set is perfect for an after- work function or dinner and a show. The skirt and shirt are both from Zara and are a really nice quality- heavy and textured.  It's a deep, beautiful shade of navy, too. In the summer, it would be really cute with a neutral strappy sandal and an arm full of bangles.  I pulled this bag out of the closet for the first time in a long while. I love this bag. Wait, I love all bags.  I have every Gucci bag I've ever purchased going back maybe 15 years and I never sell them.  They are like family to me.  I'm a Gucch-a-holic (we all have our problems though, am I right!?)  😊
